STEP Associate Advisors are paired with experienced industry professionals who share their knowledge and skills through a structured paid training program.
The five-stage program is structured to train and prepare aspiring professionals for a successful career as a collision repair service advisor.
Complete the program in about 7-9 months based on the pace of content mastery, skills proficiency, and position requirements.

COMPLETE EACH OF THE FIVE STEP STAGES TO GRADUATE AND EARN YOURSELF AS A STEP ASSOCIATE. COMPLETION TIME IS ABOUT 8-10 MONTHS OF TRAINING.
This industry is all about hands-on training. As a Stage 1 Associate, you get paired with an experienced Crash Champions Service Advisor Mentor who will immerse you in the repair center environment and help you lay a strong foundation of fundamental skills essential to becoming a high-earning full-time Service Advisor.
Skills you will learn: writing estimates with oversight and auditing by a STEP Mentor, managing vehicle check-ins and deliveries, delivering customer communications updates, and participating in production meetings with repair center staff.
You’ve laid a foundation. Now, it’s time to sharpen your skills. In Stage 2, you will earn limited independence by writing estimates while also receiving regular feedback and oversight from your STEP Mentor.
Skills you will learn: operating independent CCC production reports, managing a carrier DRP, principles of CSI, accounts receivable, and Estimatics.
It’s time to level up to advanced skills. At Stage 3 of the STEP Associate journey, you will begin writing and closing files with full independence. You will also learn advanced procedures in key programs to efficiently and effectively advise customers through the repair process.
Skills you will learn: advanced knowledge in Estimatics and CCC, opening and closing files independently, managing 10-15 active repair orders (ROs), and achieving high CSI scores.
Polish your technical skills as well as your soft skills by learning the principles of managing complex repair orders and negotiations with insurance carriers. After two months at the Stage 4 level, Associates will also transition to commission pay providing the opportunity to maximize earnings based on performance.
Skills you will learn: Achieving a Crash Champions standard of CSI scores, full accounts receivable competency, the ability to operate with full independence from the STEP mentor, managing a complete customer file, operating on full commission status.
After successfully completing Stages 1-4, you have achieved full Crash Champions Service Advisor status.
